Mason Training – Construction Skills for Livelihoods
About The Project
The Mason Training program equips youth and laborers with practical construction skills including brickwork, plastering, safety protocols, and use of modern tools. It is often implemented under rural development and housing schemes like PMAY.
Objectives
The training aims to enhance employability in the construction sector, ensure quality workmanship, and address the shortage of certified masons in both rural and urban areas. It also promotes safe construction practices.
Our Role
We mobilized rural youth and daily wage workers, conducted hands-on training in collaboration with technical experts, and facilitated certification. Many trainees were later linked to jobs in housing projects and infrastructure works.
Hunar Se Rozgar Tak – Hospitality & Service Sector Skilling
About The Project
Launched by the Ministry of Tourism, Hunar Se Rozgar Tak provides short-term training in hospitality, tourism, and service-related skills. It targets unemployed youth, especially from economically weaker sections, to boost job readiness.
Objectives
The initiative focuses on skill development in trades like housekeeping, food & beverage service, front office operations, and cooking. It helps youth gain employment in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and related sectors.
Our Role
We partnered with training providers to organize skill-based sessions, offer industry exposure, and assist in placement support. We prioritized youth from backward areas and helped many secure jobs or start small service ventures.
Laghu Kutir – Cottage Industry Development
About The Project
The Laghu Kutir initiative promotes rural cottage industries by supporting traditional skills and local production units. It focuses on small-scale manufacturing like handicrafts, weaving, food products, and household goods to boost rural livelihoods.
Objectives
The program aims to generate employment, revive traditional crafts, and encourage self-reliant local economies. It promotes skill upgradation, financial inclusion, and the creation of sustainable income sources through home-based enterprises.
Our Role
We identified local artisans and women’s groups, provided technical training, and helped them with product development, packaging, and marketing. Our NGO also assisted in forming SHGs and linking them with schemes and microfinance support.
RPL – Paints & Coating (Recognition of Prior Learning)
About The Project
Under the Skill India Mission, the RPL program certifies workers who have informal experience in specific trades. In the paints and coating sector, it validates existing skills of painters through structured assessments and short training.
Objectives
RPL improves worker credibility, enhances productivity, and helps access better job opportunities. It promotes workplace safety, standardization, and professional recognition for informal sector workers.
Our Role
Our NGO conducted RPL drives in collaboration with SSCs, assessed painters, and facilitated short refreshers on safety, surface prep, and tool handling. Certified workers gained improved income prospects and formal recognition.
PBSSD – Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development
About The Project
PBSSD is the state-level nodal agency under the West Bengal Skill Development Mission, focused on implementing skill training programs for unemployed youth. It facilitates both short- and long-term training across sectors through registered training partners.
Objectives
The scheme aims to enhance the employability of youth, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, by offering industry-relevant training, certification, and placement support. It aligns with NSQF and promotes economic empowerment.
Our Role
We conducted mobilization, provided sector-specific skill training, and supported assessment and certification processes. Our NGO also facilitated job fairs, career counseling, and helped many trainees secure employment or start their own ventures.
PMFME – Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises
About The Project
PMFME is a flagship scheme by MoFPI that supports the formalization of unorganized food processing units. It offers credit-linked subsidies, capacity-building, branding support, and training for both individuals and collectives (SHGs/FPOs).
Objectives
The scheme aims to enhance food processing efficiency, ensure quality standards, and improve income opportunities for small entrepreneurs. It promotes cluster-based development, value addition, and formal registration.
Our Role
We helped entrepreneurs prepare DPRs, provided handholding through application processes, and facilitated access to bank credit and government support. Our NGO also delivered technical training on packaging, hygiene, and marketing.
NIELIT (in collaboration with NCPUL)
About The Project
This program, run in collaboration with NIELIT and NCPUL, provides IT literacy and computer education in Urdu and English. It targets minority and Urdu-speaking communities, aiming to promote digital inclusion through recognized certification.
Objectives
It aims to bridge the digital divide by making computer skills accessible to minority students and job seekers. The training includes basic software tools, internet usage, and digital documentation aligned with national e-literacy goals.
Our Role
We set up certified training centers, delivered DTP, CCC, and computer basics courses in bilingual formats, and ensured smooth conduct of exams under NIELIT. The program empowered learners with tech skills essential for employment.
